I’ll trade you two wheat for a brick
I figured I’d start off this blog with one of my favorite designs I’ve ever done. It’s my favorite partly because I love Catan, and partly because Wil Wheaton retweeted it and said it was awesome. My Trekkie heart is still fluttering madly.
Settlers of Catan is basically the best board game that has ever existed. It’s infuriating and leaves me hating myself and my friends afterwards, because things get very personal very fast. It’s amazing. So what better game to pay tribute to?
To get this manicure, I had to mix basically every color myself, minus the base color. The base colors are:
Yellow: Sun Sational from Ulta
Light green: Green with Envy from Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear
Dark green: Holly-day from China Glaze
Red: Brownstone from China Glaze
Gray: Steely Gaze from Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
Nude: Stonewall from Sally Hansen Hard as Nail

The sheep was my favorite one to do! It was the first one I finished, and it was tricky to actually do my other nails instead of staring at my little sheep and giggling. Also, I totally know what you mean about being a potty mouth during Catan. I’ve said some terrible things to the people I love. It gets even worse when you add in Cities and Knights.
Awesome design!! Love Catan as well. Named my dog Catan so his fleas could be called settlers of Catan!!!

You need to start converting people to the ways of Catan. I’ve been slowly but surely teaching all my friends so I always have someone to play with.
Angel try your local comic shop. Mine has a board game night every Tuesday. If they don’t have one the owner may be willing to start one. Our shop didn’t have a night until we suggested it and now his board game sales are through the roof!

(suggestive voice) Personally, I like the wood the best….. Ha ha ha seriously though your design is awesome. I love Catan! It was my first real board game after I grew up and out of Monopoly and will always be my favorite. Your nail made me want to have a board game night with my friends soon 🙂

What brushes did you use to draw, particularly the sheep? Thanks.
I used a dotting tool for the sheep wool. Just started with one center dot and kind of spiraled out to get texture. The brush I used for everything else is #306 from winning nails by worldwide… or something like that. I wouldn’t suggest that brush though. It just broke last night and I got a new one today that is way better (much cleaner lines). My new one is just a regular acrylic paintbrush, size 10/0.
